first time here, used to go to House of India across the street which looks like it closed for renovation/closed for good. Food was very tasty, reasonable, good service and pretty inside.

I found Saffron to be a good, but not great, option for Indian in the Farmington Hills area. The food was standard-good, I do think there are better Indian places in the Detroit area. A friend and I shared the Makhni chicken (or to Americanize it- butter chicken) and lamb tikki marsala. Both were flavorful but could have used a bit more spice. There was a nice sweetness to the dishes. The naan has to be ordered separately and does not automatically come with the order. I found this strange, I think at most American Indian restaurants we do expect it. The order did come with rice. The service was excellent and we did not wait long after we ordered for the food to be brought out. I also agree with the other reviewers that the portions were small for the price.

Lack spicyness.! Americanized ! Clean place, when I came in for lunch buffet , wait staff not so friendly, the guy favors women clientele lol, Butter chicken was ok, chicken curry was really good and the chutneys you can't go wrong with it ! The downfall was the tandoori chicken was so dry it was as hard as rock ! ! Excellent was the cabbage poriyal! I'd say Namaste still wins my palate ! Off you can by pass the disposable plates

My friend and I ended up at Saffron when we discovered the restaurant we wanted to go to was closed. We didn't have to travel far as there are at least a dozen Indian restaurants in the immediate area. We decided to go with the lunch buffet. There was a very good selection of items, soup included.. Everything I tried was very tasty, not bland or too spicy. The only thing missing was a decent selection of desserts. I think there were two. I tried both neither of which I enjoyed. There wasn't a great deal of atmosphere in the place and the server was not at all attentive. He brought our drink orders, left the bill and never returned, although he passed our table many times never stopping to ask if we needed anything. So if you want good Indian food and not too particular about the atmosphere or service then you will probably enjoy this place. If not there are a least a dozen more you can walk to.

I've been here twice for dinner. Both times we got excellent service (they were pretty dead though so not sure if this would change during a rush). Both times we ordered the chicken Tikka masala and peshawari naan, they are both delicious. We didn't love the the saffron curry but it was still good. The lamb madras was very tasty but the lamb pieces were a little fatty. Would definitely recommend them and am already planning a return trip with a few more friends.

Well. This place has changed hands quite a bit. And it has been an Indian restaurant more than once. They do have a tandoor that you can see them using. It is behind the glass in the main dining room. We went for a weekend buffet with another couple. They are Indians and both are vegetarians. They seemed to enjoy the veggie fare. I thought the food was passable but not extraordinary. There were quite a few items to choose from but nothing I ate wowed me. I would go back, perhaps for an al a carte meal where I could select a dish and have it prepared on the spot. The feeding at the trough was not spectacular.

I have only been here for their lunch buffet. The food is fantastic and the buffet leaves nothing to be desired. High quality, well prepared food. Highly recommended.

I have been remiss for not reviewing Saffron earlier. When I get a craving for Indian food, this my go-to lunch spot. Most Indian restaurants have a lunch buffet and Indian food lends itself very well to buffet service. The variety is very good with several vegetarian and meat options. There is always Tandoori Chicken and the naan is made fresh for each table. The food is great and reasonably priced. It is also a good way to get introduced to Indian food. Highly recommended.

I hadn't eaten Indian food in a few years before I tried this place. For dinner, I ordered two entrees and two orders of naan with a friend. In my opinion, it was a bit pricey considering the size of the portion, but it was tasty. They charge you for the naan (which I was disappointed by), but there is a nice naan selection on the menu. Both the garlic and basil and the peshawari naan were delicious! I returned another day for the lunch buffet with my family. It was tasty, but I was disappointed by the small selection. The few Indian buffets that I've been to before (in the Canton/Novi area) had much lager selections. At least the naan was unlimited this time!

Well, well, looks like I found me my go to for Indian carry out. Though Namaste flavors had been my usual for the nights we craved Indian, this place takes precedence based on location alone. All dishes we've tried have been excellent and the staff was first class all the way. There's a full bar too, complete with sexy mood lighting and a smiling bartender who made me nervous.

I was invited by a friend to try this place out so I invited a few more friends and made a party of it. I was extremely impressed by the extensive 50 menu item buffet spread in celebration of the Festival of Lights (an Indo holiday) I usually stay away from buffets but this was an exception because of the spiritual occasion. It was also an opportunity for me to try dishes from every corner of India. OMG there were so many choices I haven't tried that I didn't know where to start. So I started with things I haven't tired, like the Goan cuisines which were fantastic, savory and an explosion of flavors that had my taste buds screaming for more. The vegetarian dishes were so rich in spices and delicious that I couldn't stop till I tried all of them. The soups, salads and all the toppings and sauces were just absolutely amazing. I was so full that I didn't get a chance to try all of the deserts but one. Oh well I'm sure they'll have more special buffet spreads to come. Oops... Forgot to mention our waitresses Carisa she was very helpful and a walking Indo cuisine Wikipedia. Will be going back soon to try this place when it's not so festive.

Very good food. Tandoori chicken was great. Waiter was not good. Forgot soup and salad. I would definitely come back but make sure of a different waiter.

Spicy keema naan and dal without a spoon! But fairly quick service and a good atmopshere. Stop by! They have friendly people and even a bar

This rating on the food is a 5 (regular menu, not buffet), but 3 on the service. They can be slow, but the food is outstanding. Buffet too small a selection. It looks acceptable but I don't pick restaurants based on decor.

Incredible. I was driving down I-696 and I asked Siri if there were any Indian restaurants near me. This is where she took me. What a wonderful delight! I started with the buffet-style lunch. Butter chicken melted in my mouth, and the tandoori chicken was incredible too. Full of flavor and cooked right- and good sides as well. For dessert- Gulab jamun was to die for! Best Indian meal I have had in months. It is a must try place. Try it.

Absolutely amazing. Great service, wonderful atmosphere, brilliant food. There are not enough adjectives to describe the food! We tried Saffron on a date night because it was something outside of our normal routine and we could not have been more pleasantly surprised. It was hands down the best food we had eaten since moving to the Detroit metro area.

Finally, finally there is great Indian food in this location. I've tried all the incarnations of this place since Shalimar & nothing's been more than average until now. We ordered the whole tandoori chicken & in other places, including the previous restaurants here, you'd get 1/2 of a 'chickette' cut in 8 pcs. You still don't get a whole chicken here, but they must use an adult chicken as the pieces were identifiable as chicken & was more than enough to eat. Shrimp Biryani was our other plate & it was a large portion though we thought for $17 there should have been a couple more shrimp. The flavors were outstanding & we order everything Mild w/a capital M, knowing that even mild has a kick, but tolerable. My only other criticism is that I think that 1 pc. of naan should come w/2 full dinners. Some Indian restaurants do that & some don't - oh well. Prices are fair, service was very attentive & the food was great - even enough to take home for another dinner for 2! We will definitely be back.

Highly recommended. Food is very tasty and filling. Comfortable and inviting decor. Service was great. If I am ever craving Indian food and back in the area, I will definitely be back.

I ordered gobe Manchuria, it was a carry out so it was a bit soggy, and the biriyani barely had any shrimp in it-- that's the reason why I gave it 4 stars, but I will update my review once we eat at the restaurant. The bhindi (okra) was AMAZING and so were the least greasy veggie samosas I have ever had. The lentil soup was also great as was the garlic naan. Overall, very good, I was surprised the restaurant only had 3 stars. The staff was also very friendly and prices reasonable. We will definitely go back, next time to eat in the restaurant, and ask for extra shrimp and crispy gobe

Everybody is raving about Saffron, and while the staff was great and the ambiance was perfect, I did not think that the food merited its reviews. The vindaloo was sweet and I prefer it spicy. The aloo Gobi lacked depth and complexity. I left Saffron disappointed and still craving the heat and spice that I associate with Indian cuisine.

Really good Indian food! We went for dinner, not buffet. Our samosas were good, not the best I've ever had, but still tasty. We also had Chicken Tikka Masala which was very good, nice flavors and good spice. My husband had the Saffron Korma which he also really liked. The naan and rice were good too. Waiters were also very attentive. We'll definitely be going back!
